Prototyping

One of Regal’s main specializations is designing and developing production-representative prototypes for the industries that we serve. We produce prototype parts for product development purposes, in production volumes ranging from small to large. From the initial design all the way through production, our engineers will work with you to determine the best solutions, provide design assistance, and offer production recommendations.

Regal has several prototype production capabilities. We recently acquired a welder specifically designed for prototyping and small-volume welding. We also added a Haas VF and a Haas CNC Lathe to improve our efficiency and our ability for highly detailed manufacturing. No matter what your design or your requirements, Regal Metal Products is highly capable when it comes to prototyping.

We manufacture prototypes in a range of different production volumes:

  • Limited Quantity: These prototypes tend to be designed specifically for Research & Development purposes, and are often produced in smaller batches, usually with the use of standard tooling. Since the production volumes tend to be low, building custom tooling is often too expensive.
  • Medium to Large Quantity: The prototypes that we produce in large quantities are often used in stamping press operations and similar tool conditions. These are more often used in production situations rather than R&D, and custom tooling may be necessary for more complex or difficult designs.

We have been fabricating prototypes for the automotive industry since our beginnings in 1965. We also have the wide-ranging capabilities to serve several other markets as well including:

  • Automotive Industry
  • Agricultural Equipment
  • Commercial Appliances
  • Heavy-Duty Trucking

No matter what your application in any of these industries, Regal’s team will help you design and develop the prototypes that you need.
